Service Description
This course introduces students in grades K–6 to modern art history, taking them on an illustrated journey from Impressionism to Minimalism. Students learn about major art movements, influential artists, and how artists use color, shape, and imagination to express ideas and emotions. Through engaging stories and illustrations from the Art Stars series, students explore the lives and work of key modern artists while creating hands-on projects inspired by each style. Short summaries and creative activities support active learning and build confidence in artistic expression. No prior art knowledge is required—only curiosity and creativity. The class emphasizes art appreciation, visual thinking, and creative exploration. Class Highlights Include: - Introduction to major modern art movements - Studies of influential artists through illustrated biographies - Hands-on art projects inspired by different styles - Exploration of color, shape, pattern, and symbolism - Development of art appreciation and creative confidence Featured Artists: Students will study influential modern artists including Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Sonia Delaunay, Frida Kahlo, and Andy Warhol, representing a range of styles and approaches to modern art. All class and material fees must be paid for upfront. Once paid, all fees are non-refundable, except if class is canceled due to low enrollment. If class is canceled due to low enrollment, you will be notified 1 week prior to the start of the class and all money will be refunded.
